Milana Gurt: 2017-2018 Giving Bach Scholar

Milana Gurt is currently a junior at Seckman High School. She has been an active musician for the great majority of her life. Raised in a musical family, Milana developed a fine appreciation for the arts early on in her life. Her initial exposure included attendance to numerous Bach Society concerts, Cathedral Concerts, Ambassadors of Harmony rehearsals and shows, and other musical performances.

Before long, Milana showed a keen sense of musicianship of her own. Excelling quickly in band and choir at school, her drive prompted her to learn more. Milana’s father has had a major role in her development as a musical artist from the very beginning. Her teachers have also included Yelena Petroshkan and Sherry Simino, and she currently studies with Jalene Huang privately on the flute.

Additionally, Milana has been a member of the St. Louis Children’s Choirs’ Concert Choir under the direction and guidance of Barbara Berner. These supplementary educational experiences have helped further her in her musical endeavors. With their help, Milana has received 1 ratings at the state solo and ensemble festival on flute and voice, and was selected to both the Missouri All-State Band and Choir. With the sure support of her father and the grace of God, Milana Gurt hopes to preserve her diligent love of music throughout her life.
